About this service
We translate research papers, dissertations, and theses for submission to international journals or institutional repositories. We handle the supporting documentation for EU research funding applications, including Horizon Europe, FCT, and ERDF projects. We work with research teams from the University of Minho, IPCA, Instituto Politecnico do Cavado e do Ave, and other Braga-area institutions, as well as researchers across Portugal submitting to international journals. The most common challenge in academic translation is maintaining the specific framing required by the target discipline while adapting for a different academic cultural context. UK and US academic English have different conventions for argument structure, hedging, and citation framing. We apply these distinctions by field, not just by language. For journal submissions, we confirm the target journal requirements before beginning work so the translation meets the specific style guide in use.
